Electric vehicle giant Tesla, represented by its in-house counsel and Fish & Richardson, sued its ex-supplier Matthews International Corporation for stealing its trade secrets.
Tesla's complaint alleges that Matthews, which formerly supplied Tesla with equipment for its proprietary dry battery electrode (DBE) manufacturing process, used confidential information about the DBE tech to develop its own patents and shared it with Tesla's rivals.
The complaint is filed in California, where Matthews and Tesla conducted business related to DBE technology over the past four years.

It alleges trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract and unfair competition under the Defend Trade Secrets Act and the California Uniform Trade Secrets Act.
