A six-seat version of the top-selling Tesla Model Y is due to launch by the end of next year – after an updated five-seat version launches in early 2025 – according to a new report.
News agency Reuters claims a six-seat version of the Model Y is planned to commence production in Tesla's Shanghai factory – where Australian models are produced – in late 2025.
And it may require a larger body than regular models, as Reuters reports the seven-seat layout already available in US-built Model Ys – which fits two extra seats behind the existing three-seat second-row bench – is "cramped" and would be "unpopular in China".
"It's not even large enough for a large-sized dog," said one of Reuters' two inside sources with knowledge of the plans, as quoted by the news agency.
