This guy was one of the first customers to get their Tesla Cybertrucks. He was also one of the first to put down a deposit, right on the evening Elon Musk introduced the model up on stage in Los Angeles, when its windows were shatterd to pieces. But he didn't like it much, so tried to flip it, and eventually traded it in. Now, he found out that the dealership still hasn't sold it, and it looks like it is there to stay.
With all the Cybertruck frenzy going through the roof, not everyone falls in love at first sight with Tesla's latest contraption. Tyler Hoover was one of those people who just couldn't feel the chemistry. He hated the fact that the range was only 340 miles (547 kilometers).
Furthermore, the vehicle was only Full-Self-Driving capable, but the FSD had yet to come into the lineup. Elon Musk said it would arrive soon, but Tyler has never trusted Musk's timeline much. Meanwhile, the promised full light bar on the roof of the vehicle was nowhere in sight.
He also predicted massive depreciation before the end of the year. So it was just the right time for him to get rid of the vehicle he didn't really like that much hated.
Tyler first tried to flip it with the help of a dealership. However, according to the purchase contract, whoever sold the
EV
during the first months of ownership needed to notify Tesla and give the automaker the chance to buy back the vehicle at the purchase price listed on the Final Price Sheet less $0.25 per mile driven.
If Tesla refuses to buy it back, the owner must wait for the carmaker's written consent before listing it for sale.

Tyler Hoover decided to trade in his Cybertruck, for which he had paid $102,000, for a slightly used Cadillac Lyric. He got $111,000 from the dealership, and he paid $44,000 for the electric Cadillac, which was about $20,000 off of its original MSRP.
The Davis-Moore Chevrolet dealership in Wichita, Kansas, is selling his Cybertruck for $109,990, which is more than $1,000 less than what they paid for it. But after three months of being advertised, it is still in the dealer's yard.
So now its former owner is thinking he might have made a mistake. But then, he remembered he sold it at the right time, riding the wave of the Cybertruck-mania. The only thing he misses about it is the attention he got.
At first, his former EV was listed at $140,000 and kept sitting there, while the dealer kept cutting the price. But $109,990 is still a high price, and the truck just wouldn't sell. They will have to do better than that. Right now, those who want to buy a Cybertruck can get a brand-new one for $93,990.
