Specifically, the base versions of the Model S and Model X got quiet price drops this week, as spotted by Electrek. The cheapest Model S had $3,500 chopped off its price tag, resulting in a new asking price of $74,990. As for the Model X, its price had $8,500 shaved off for a new sticker of $79,990. What's even better (at least in theory) is that these newer, cheaper base models also come with bigger batteries than the previous base models. The previous ones had a top range that was limited by software, and while the new ones are the same hardware-wise, that software limitation is no longer in place.
