Former Philadelphia 76ers big man Paul Reed has been doubted throughout his brief NBA career. The No. 58 pick of the 2020 draft has had to grind and earn everything he has gotten so far in the league and will have to do so again in his new home with the Detroit Pistons.
In four seasons with the Sixers, Reed averaged 5.1 points and 4.2 rebounds. He did step up in the 2023-24 season averaging 7.3 points and 6.0 rebounds while playing in all 82 games and being the primary backup to Joel Embiid. He started 24 games when Embiid went down with a meniscus injury in his left knee for two months.
As Reed prepares for his first opportunity with the Pistons, he took to Twitter to send a message to those who continue to doubt him.
Reed's motto has always been "out the mud" meaning he has had to earn everything he's gotten. He had to do so with the Sixers and one has to believe he will do the same with a bigger opportunity with the rebuilding Pistons.
