Randy Glatt of Attleboro took this photo from Bank Street in the cityâs downtown early last Tuesday morning on his way to work. âI took some pics of something in the sky, was later told that it could be a SpaceX rocket,â Glatt said. About that time, four private astronauts had blasted into space from NASAâs Kennedy Space Center in a SpaceX capsule for a five-day mission to test new spacesuit designs and conduct the first private spacewalk. The spacecraft settled into an orbit passing as close to Earth as 118 miles and as far as 870 miles â the farthest for any humans since the end of the U.S. Apollo moon program in 1972.

Mansfield student on MIAA advisory panel
Mansfield High School senior Myles Brown has been appointed to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Student Advisory Committee for the 2024-25 school year. Brown is a three-sport standout for the Hornets. He is a two-time Hockomock League All-Star for winter track and is on the football and spring track teams. âMyles epitomizes what it means to be a student-athlete. He doesnât just work hard on the field, but he is also a leader in the classroom,â Principal Russ Booth said. The committee consists of members of the New England Student Leadership Conference as well as student-athletes from the MIAA Student Ambassador program. Committee members attend seasonal meetings with the MIAAâs Educational Athletics Committee, help facilitate leadership workshops for students and team captains, participate in various MIAA activities and provide feedback from the perspective of student-athletes. âIâm grateful for the opportunity to serve as a leader on this committee and Iâm looking forward to being the voice for both Mansfieldâs and other schoolâs student athletes,â Brown said. He is also a peer leader for Mansfieldâs A World of Difference and hosted the âJamaican Tableâ at Mansfield Highâs Culture Night last school year.
