Some Tesla drivers may want to check their vehicles after the company issued a recall over a software issue that could lead to collisions.
Tesla has recalled certain Model S, Model X, Model 3 and Model Y vehicles made between 2013 and 2024 due to a potential issue with the hood latch.
This problem may prevent the vehicle from alerting the driver if the hood isn’t fully closed. As a result, the hood could open while driving, obstructing the driver’s view and increasing the risk of an accident.
Tesla has already addressed the issue with an over-the-air software update. Owners should check if their vehicle is running software version 2024.20.3 or later. If it is, no further action is needed. If not, owners should install the latest update, which typically takes between 20 and 60 minutes to complete, Tesla said in their recall notice.
Risks: Poses collision hazard.
