NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) – Breeze Airways is preparing to take steps to alleviate noise and traffic concerns in the surrounding residential area of Tweed Airport ahead of the airlines launch date.
Under a new voluntary agreement, Breeze Airways will schedule all flights from Tweed to take off after 7 a.m. and land before 10 p.m.
The airline will also operate a fleet of brand-new Airbus A220 aircraft, which are designed to produce significantly less noise—reportedly half the noise footprint of previous-generation planes.
This initiative follows a similar agreement made two years ago by Avelo Airlines, which committed to scheduling its earliest departures at 6:30 a.m. and limiting late-night flights.
Despite these efforts, noise and traffic remain pressing issues for local residents.
New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker stated, “By voluntarily agreeing to reasonable flight hours and using new, quieter fleet of aircraft, this will help reduce the noise impact on the surrounding community, while also providing New Haveners with the benefit of more affordable and convenient travel options to destinations around the region and country.”
Breeze Airways, which already serves Bradley International Airport, is set to launch routes from New Haven to eleven locations starting December 10.
