The DMV did mention that it would have to re-evaluate how to administer the driving test in the future.
According to reports, a teen in Arizona, USA, who undertook a driving test in a Tesla Model Y was denied her driving license because of the car's autopilot feature.
The reports claim that the reason for the teen being denied her driving license was that the Autopilot features were deemed too helpful during the test. The teen's father took to Reddit to explain that his daughter passed the practical portion of the driving exam and was initially asked to return the following day to collect her license. However, when the teen came the next day with her mother, the DMV staff told them she wouldn't be getting her license because she used Tesla's Full-Self Driving feature.
The father clarified that their Model Y, used by the teen for the test, didn't actually have the autopilot feature installed, as it is an $8,000 option. After back-and-forth, the DMV still denied the license, but this time reasoned that it was because of using one-pedal driving.
However, the constant pushback from the teen's father was eventually enough for the DMV to reconsider and grant the license. However, the DMV did mention that it would have to re-evaluate how to administer the driving test in the future.
