Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump revealed on Monday that he has been in discussions with billionaire Elon Musk regarding the deployment of Starlink internet services to areas ravaged by Hurricane Helene. The storm has resulted in more than 100 fatalities across six U.S. states, leaving many regions without communication networks. Trump's comments were made during a speech in Georgia.
"I just spoke to Elon," Trump stated. "We want to get Starlink hooked up because they have no communication whatsoever and Elon will always come through." Trump emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting, "We are going to try and get the Starlink in there as soon as possible."
Starlink, an internet service provider that utilizes satellites, is a subsidiary of Musk's SpaceX. The company boasts control of nearly two-thirds of the world's active satellites, providing high-bandwidth internet coverage across the globe.
