Internet service Starlink announced Tuesday that 500 kits were being transported or have already arrived to areas impacted by Hurricane Helene.
"In total, ~500 Starlink kits have arrived, or will arrive shortly, and are being deployed by private individuals and organizations with @SpaceX support to help with the recovery efforts," the service wrote on the social media platform, X.
Starlink is a unit of Elon Musk’s SpaceX company that controls much of the world's active satellites and it is the only high-bandwidth Internet system that covers the entire planet.
Hurricane Helene has killed over 100 people in six states and has cut off some areas of western North Carolina from communications and road access.
Former President Donald Trump said that he spoke to Musk about getting the internet service set up in areas affected by the hurricane, saying Musk always pulled through.
The White House said that Starlink was already being hooked up to affected areas prior to Trump's comments.
