The foundation series of the Cybertruck refers to the limited-edition version of the stainless steel truck with exclusive badges and premium accessories being manufactured by the company for the initial months of starting deliveries. The foundation series Cybertruck starts at $99,990 for the base version.
The non-foundation series Cybertruck, though less exclusive, will be cheaper. The base version of the non-foundation series Cybertruck starts at $79,990 with the higher-end Cyberbeast variant starting at $99,990.
The invites to reservation holders imply that Tesla might soon start production of the non-foundation series version. The company did not immediately respond to Benzinga’s request for comment.
Why It Matters: Tesla started delivering the Cybertruck in November 2023.
During Tesla's annual shareholder meeting in early June, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the company has touched a weekly production record of 1,300 Cybertrucks. The company is now ramping production further to touch 2,500 units per week by the end of the year to deliver 250,000 Cybertrucks a year starting in 2025.
Cybertruck production is on track to achieve profitability by the end of the year, the company said during its second-quarter earnings in July.
In the three months through the end of September, Tesla delivered 22,915 units of the Model X, Model S, and Cybertruck together. The company doesn’t provide a Model-wise breakdown of deliveries.
