Don’t write off the Standard Range yet — killer lease: While the Standard Range Rear Wheel Drive has been cut from the Model 3 landing page, it still exists on the new inventory page. And if you opt for a Standard Range Model 3 lease, it’s a solid deal. Depending upon the configuration, the Standard Range lease is $263/month versus $389/month for the Long Range RWD Model 3. I confirmed this with a Tesla salesperson. With a lease, the Standard Range falls under the so-called “lease loophole” that includes the $7,500 incentive. It’s confusing: by removing the Standard Range from the Model 3 landing page (which is separate from the new inventory page), Tesla is streamlining its lineup. Yes, it can be confusing. With a straight purchase, the Long Range RWD Model 3 is in fact cheaper because of the $7,500 federal tax credit, which doesn’t apply to the Standard Range. Again, that’s with a purchase not a lease.
