NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Hurricane Milton already is one of the four strongest hurricanes of modern times.
The storm’s minimum central pressure at one point Monday night fell to 897 mb, with maximum sustained winds of 185 mph and gusts up to 200 mph.
Milton weakened ever so slightly with the National Hurricane Center’s 10 p.m. update Monday night. Pressure had climbed to 914 mb and winds were clocking 165 mph, still a Category 5 reading. The storm was moving east toward Florida’s west coast at 9 mph.
The circulation associated with this storm is pulling down less-humid air to our area, which will act as a frontal passage Monday. This means the feel outside will get better and better as the week goes on.
Bruce: Hurricane Milton among the strongest storms in modern times with winds sustained at 180-185mph. Some gusts ups to 200+ mph. Our thoughts are with Floridians. We will see no impacts here with blue skies, less humidity and cooler mornings over the next 7 days. pic.twitter.com/sQ6kqXDwGU
