Hurricanes of any size are catastrophic in scope and immensity, but the view of these monster cyclones from space captures the sheer enormity of these sweeping behemoths of Mother Nature. The International Space Station took a series of extraordinary snapshots Tuesday showing an impressive view of Milton, now a Category 4 storm, as it churned in the Gulf of Mexico, its sights set on Florida.
External cameras on the ISS captured images of Milton and its eye as the space station was orbiting Earth about 260 miles above.
Also Tuesday, NASA astronaut Matthew Dominick posted a timelapse video on X (formerly Twitter) showing Milton through the window of the SpaceX Dragon Endeavor spacecraft, which is docked to the ISS. Floridaâs west coast is expected to take a direct hit from Milton, creating catastrophic storm surge and heavy flash flooding.
