For the fifth time in less than a year since it was released, the Tesla Cybertruck has been recalled. This time the problem involves the rearview camera display which may not activate immediately after shifting the vehicle into reverse.
According to the Associated Press, 27,000 Cybertrucks have been recalled for the latest problem and affected owners will be notified of the recall via letter starting on Nov. 25. A free software upgrade has already been released to correct the problem, according to Tesla.
The recall is necessary because the display screens in some of the trucks could remain blank for up to 8 seconds after a driver shifts to reverse. Regulations in the U.S. require those screens to activate with a rearview within 2 seconds of shifting into reverse, the AP reports.
In June, a pair of recalls were announced with one involving trim pieces on the truck and the other involving an issue with front windshield wipers. In April, 3,878 Cybertrucks were recalled because the accelerator could get stuck, leading to an increased risk of a crash.
The first deliveries of the Cybertruck were made in November 2023.
