This would be his time, then. The final minutes of regulation in undefeated Penn State's eventual 33-30 overtime Saturday survival of the USC Trojans.
Is Allar truly growing into the big-game, national title-contending quarterback Penn State envisioned in the former five-star high school prospect?
Is he finally becoming the quarterback everyone thought he could be, should be?
The answer, at least for now: He is.

Go back to those two fourth-down plays in the fourth quarter. The way he pulled them off. He probably couldn't have done that last year − not in losses to Ohio State and Michigan and Mississippi.
But look at him against USC, already with two bad interceptions on his back. His Nittany Lions were trailing by a touchdown. The L.A. Coliseum crowd was howling for one more stop, one more mistake.
Penn State football: Drew Allar to Julian Fleming to victory
On the first fourth down, he dropped back and calmly delivered a quick, on-target strike hauled in by Julian Fleming − the senior who struggled to catch his earlier passes. It was the biggest had-to-make throw of his Allar's career.
A few minutes later, it happened again. Fourth-and-10. Less than four minutes to play. Game on the line, once more.
This time, Allar dropped back and felt pressure and adeptly climbed the pocket. He saw Fleming again and threw. It wasn't the prettiest spiral, mind you, but it was direct and on-point and very catchable. Fleming held on for 17 yards and the Lions survived again.
Two plays later, Allar flipped the game-tying touchdown pass to Nick Singleton, and the rest of the day fell into place like it never really had before.
Soon after, Penn State won in overtime.

Allar grew up on this day − even more so because it didn't go smoothly. He worked through the difficulties better than ever. He never lost confidence. He even ran the ball exquisitely when needed, picking up 32 big yards on four tries.
He didn't really do any of that last year. Things everyone was waiting for.
