North Carolina gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson blasted “shady” spending from left-wing groups in the governor’s race, positing that the groups are investing in the contest because it is “much closer than they want you to believe.”
“Food for thought: If I am really losing in the polls, why do out of state leftist groups continue to spend millions of dollars attacking me with lies?” Robinson posted on X. “Here is the answer: Because this election is much closer than they want you to believe.”
Democrats have sought to tie Robinson to Trump through ad buys after a report was published showing the North Carolina Republican had posted multiple comments on a pornographic website.
“This election is not about what I did or didn’t say on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or any other website. This election is about you, your families, and the future of North Carolina,” he said. “Do not allow a bunch of shady, out of state super PACs to hoodwink you into believing anything else.”
Robinson is trailing decisively in RealClearPolitics’s polling average to Democratic candidate Josh Stein, 52.1% to 36.3%.
