LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - From a mid-season forfeit to a historic win - its been an adventurous first year of varsity football at Lincoln Standing Bear. The Grizzlies recorded the program’s first varsity victory on Thursday, which prompted a celebration and numerous photos at Seacrest Field.

Led by junior quarterback Hayden Holdren and a strong defensive effort, Standing Bear raced out to a 20-point lead. The Grizzlies withstood a late scoring charge by Lincoln Northwest, which included a pair of touchdowns in the final 1:04. Holdren finished with a pair of TD passes and a rushing score.
Standing Bear closes the season next week at Beatrice. Lincoln Northwest, meanwhile, drops to 0-8 following Thursday’s loss.
The game was the first meeting between the two newest programs in Lincoln.
