CLAYTON â A man was charged Friday with pointing a gun at his Uber driver and then stealing the man's Tesla when the driver refused to take him to a new address.
Russell Bryant Jr., 18, is charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.
Police say the Uber driver picked Bryant up on Oct. 4 at Forsyth Boulevard and Lyle Avenue in Clayton. Bryant asked the driver to change the drop-off address and offered to pay the driver cash, police said.
The driver refused, got out of his Tesla Model 3 and opened up the passenger door, police said. He told Bryant to get out of the car.
"I didn't want to do this," Bryant said before pulling a gun on the driver, according to charging documents.
Bryant drove away in the car, but the Uber driver was able to track the vehicle's location, police wrote. The car was left unoccupied in St. Louis city.
