Following the failure of its remote-controlled humanoid robot Optimus Bot at the "We, Robot" event, Tesla rushed out a video on Thursday showing some of the robot's autonomous functions. However, Tesla speeds up some of the processes in the video tenfold. This suggests that the humanoid robot can act independently at normal speed. In fact, some of the robot's reactions are much slower.

The new Tesla video for the Optimus Bot shows the humanoid roboton X walking, avoiding obstacles, climbing stairs, sorting objects and interacting with people, for example when handing out bottles of water. Tesla has displayed "Autonomous" at the top right of the screen whenever the robot acts independently. It is noticeable that not all functions are performed autonomously, for example when climbing stairs.
Autonomous functions "accelerated"
Tesla has also used internal AI functions to speed up the display of the robot's autonomous actions by playing the video more quickly. Although Tesla does not conceal this and also displays the respective speed multiplication, it suggests a faster execution of the autonomous functions.
While normal walking is still performed at the original speed, avoiding obstacles, sorting objects into a box and handing out water bottles to people are each displayed at different speeds. Tesla uses two-, eight- and ten-fold acceleration here, depending on how much is needed to make the processes appear to take place at "normal speed".
It is unclear what Tesla wants to achieve with this. One intention could be to make the video less lengthy. This is also sometimes the case with scientific videos. Another possibility could be that Tesla wanted to show what Optimus can already do autonomously against the backdrop of the remote-controlled robots at the "We, Robot" event. The video could have been accelerated in order not to fall too far behind the competition, such as Figure's humanoid robot Figure 01 and its successor Figure 02. This is because – seems to be somewhat more advanced, at least in terms of AI technology –.
