Georgetown basketball coach Ed Cooley was forced to answer questions about a preseason distraction at Big East media day thanks to a fake rumor created by Providence Twitter.
The Friars continue to make Cooley’s life a living hell following his traitorous move to a conference rival.
The coach bolted from his hometown school after more than a decade to lead one of its biggest nemeses on the court. The decision enraged the fanbase, who’d just seen their team land back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances to go along with a Big East title.
Cooley’s replacement, Kim English, has wasted no time getting in the good graces of his new supporters, taking online shots at the Hoyas in the offseason.
Staying on their good side is an important task!
Big East Twitter is rabid subculture filled with rumors, trash talk, and hilarity.
It’s previously ruffled feathers with claims that Marquette guard Tyler Kolek couldn’t read. It blasted the NCAA for a lack of Big East representation in the 2024 Tournament. It came together to mock a prominent college basketball insider for attacking one of their own.
Within that group is the Providence College Burner Community. This week, they ran with a fake rumor about Ed Cooley bailing on Georgetown for Virginia.
