WE GOT A COUPLE OF SPOTTY SHOWERS AROUND, BUT YOU’RE JUST TALKING ABOUT HALLOWEEN IN THE TROPICS. I WANT TO START WITH THAT BECAUSE WE DO HAVE SOME NEW INFORMATION THAT IS FRESH INTO OUR STUDIO. LOOKING AT THE TROPICS, WE’VE GOT SEVERAL AREAS OF INTEREST THAT WE ARE WATCHING. ONE IN THE CARIBBEAN, ONE IN THE SOUTHEAST ATLANTIC, ONE IN THE SOUTHWEST ATLANTIC, ONE IN THE NORTHEAST ATLANTIC. WE’RE GOING TO START WITH THE ONE THAT’S A LITTLE CLOSER TO HOME. THIS IS RED X THAT YOU SEE IS AN AREA THAT’S DEVELOPING NEAR THE COAST OF PANAMA. IT’S A BROAD LOW AT THE MOMENT, BUT IT WILL START TO DRIFT NORTHWARD. IT IS EXPECTED AS A VERY HIGH CHANCE NOW BECOMING A TROPICAL DEPRESSION MOVING FORWARD. SIX AND TEN CHANCE THAT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN OVER THE WEEKEND BEYOND THE WEEKEND. IT’S GOT A FOUR AND FIVE CHANCE OF HAPPENING. SO IT’S 80% OR BETTER THAT THIS BECOMES A TROPICAL DEPRESSION. TOUGH TO SAY WHERE THIS IS GOING TO GO. MOST OF THE MODELS DRIFT THIS NORTHWARD GRADUALLY. SOMETIME LATE NEXT WEEK. THIS MAY MOVE IN TO THE GULF OF MEXICO AND STEERING FORCES ARE A LITTLE SUSPECT THERE. MODELS ARE TAKING IT IN TRUE SPAGHETTI FASHION, IN ALL DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS, SO I WON’T CALL THIS A THREAT TO THE SOUTHEAST YET. BUT COMMUNITIES ALONG THE GULF COAST SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO THIS STORM AND SEE HOW IT DEVELOPS. THERE’S ANOTHER AREA OF INTEREST THAT’S CLOSE BY THE SOUTHWESTERN ATLANTIC. THIS ONLY HAS A 10% CHANCE OF DEVELOPING, IN FACT, AS THIS LOW MOVES FARTHER WEST, IT WILL LIKELY GET ABSORBED BY THE MORE POWERFUL CARIBBEAN SYSTEM. SO I’M NOT CONCERNED ABOUT THAT, EVEN THOUGH THAT’S A BIT CLOSER TO THE UNITED STATES. SO FAR THIS SEASON, WE’VE GOT WHAT, 15 NAMED STORMS. SO FAR. PATTY IS THE NEW ONE, JUST CHRISTENED A SHORT TIME AGO. THERE’S A VERY STRONG FRONT IN THE NORTHEAST ATLANTIC. U.S. IS WAY OVER HERE. JUST TO GIVE YOU SOME PERSPECTIVE, IT’S THIS LITTLE CLUSTER OF CLOUDS AND WATCH IT ROTATE. IT’S GOT A VERY TIGHT CIRCULATION. IT’S MOVING TOWARD THE AZORES AND WILL LIKELY TRACK THROUGH THE AZORES IN DUE TIME. THIS IS A SUBTROPICAL STORM, MEANING IT HAS BOTH TROPICAL AND NON-TROPICAL CHARACTERISTICS, BUT IT HAS A WARM CORE A LITTLE BIT SURPRISINGLY, TOO. BUT THIS IS GOING TO START TO MOVE INTO BOTH COOLER WATERS. AND IN ADDITION TO THAT, SOME
