In the hours before the NFL trade deadline comes to a close, the Cincinnati Bengals have reportedly made a trade for help in the backfield.According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Bengals have traded for Chicago Bears running back Khalil Herbert ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports the Bengals are sending a seventh-round pick to Chicago in the deal. The trade comes as Zack Moss' availability for the home stretch of the season comes into question. He was inactive Sunday due to a neck injury, leaving Chase Brown and Trayveon Williams as Cincinnati's lone running backs in Sunday's win.A sixth round draft pick in the 2021 draft, Herbert was given the opportunity to be a starter for the Bears last year, but has lost that spot to D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson this year.Currently in his fourth season, Herbert has totaled 1,791 rushing yards on 372 carries, with nine touchdowns, in the NFL. In the passing game, Herbert has caught 45 passes for 291 yards and two touchdowns. The Bengals have struggled in their rushing attack, entering Week 10 with the seventh-fewest total rushing yards this season (848). Sunday's win against the Raiders marked just the fourth time this year the Bengals had rushed for over 100 yards in a game as a team.Cincinnati's acquisition of Herbert could become just a rental deal, with Herbert in the final year of his rookie contract. He's set to become a free agent this offseason.
