Immediately following the collision, the driver of the Lexus, Angel Uribe, a resident of Santa Rosa, allegedly tried to flee to a nearby trail, but bystanders ran after him and physically detained him until police arrived. Uribe was on probation for a previous DUI he was convicted of in 2023, as well as pretrial supervision for a DUI arrest Aug. 7. He was arrested and booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of DUI collision causing injury; DUI collision with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher, causing injury; hit-and-run collision causing injury; giving false identification information to a peace officer; driving on a license suspended for prior DUI; and violation of probation. A Sonoma County Superior Court judge approved a higher bail due to the severity of the alleged offenses. Uribe is currently being held on $500,000 bond.
