THIS IS KCRA THREE NEWS AT FIVE. SKIES ARE CLEAR NOW, BUT THAT WON’T BE THE CASE TOMORROW. THE WET WEATHER THAT COULD IMPACT YOUR VETERAN’S DAY PLANS. THEFT. LEAVING FOLSOM RESIDENTS CONFUSED AND DISAPPOINTED. THE INVESTIGATION AFTER FENCES WERE STOLEN. A SACRAMENTO CAFE CLOSING ITS DOORS. WHY THE DOWNTOWN SACRAMENTO RESTAURANT IS SAYING GOODBYE. AND YOU’RE TAKING A LIVE LOOK OUTSIDE IN SACRAMENTO AND LAKE TAHOE. A BEAUTIFUL VIEW OUT THERE FROM BOTH CITIES. THINGS LOOK CLEAR RIGHT NOW, BUT TOMORROW WE ARE EXPECTING SOME RAIN IN THE VALLEY AND SOME SNOW IN THE SIERRA. IMPACTING ANY VETERAN’S DAY PLANS THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE. AND BECAUSE OF THAT, TOMORROW IS A KCRA 3 WEATHER IMPACT DAY. THANK YOU FOR JOINING US HERE AT FIVE. I’M ANDREA FLORES. SO FOR A LOOK AT WHEN WE CAN START TO SEE THAT RAIN AND SNOW, WE WANT TO CHECK IN NOW WITH METEOROLOGIST DIRK VERDOORN DIRK. PRETTY VIEW OUT THERE. BUT IT’S GOING TO LOOK MUCH DIFFERENT. THIS WEEKEND HAS BEEN FABULOUS AND TODAY WAS JUST A WONDERFUL DAY. LOTS OF SUNSHINE, WARM TEMPERATURES, BUT THINGS ARE GOING TO CHANGE QUITE A BIT AS WE HEAD INTO TOMORROW. SO TONIGHT WITH THESE CLEAR SKIES, TEMPERATURES WILL BE COOLING OFF QUICKLY. SUN’S GOING DOWN. WE’RE ALREADY DROPPING OFF INTO THE MID TO LOW 60S FROM YUBA CITY THROUGH MODESTO, 59 DEGREES IN PLACERVILLE AND 50 DEGREES FAIRLY MILD AT LAKE TAHOE. CLOUDS ARE GOING TO INCREASE AS WE GO THROUGH THE NIGHT TONIGHT. SO WE’LL NOTICE THOSE CLOUDS. TEMPERATURES WILL BE DROPPING OFF INTO THE 50S, SO NOT QUITE AS COOL TOMORROW MORNING BECAUSE OF THAT LAYER OF CLOUDS. SO THIS IS THE WEATHER SYSTEM. WE’RE WATCHING. IT’S CURRENTLY OFF THE COAST HERE OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. THIS IS GOING TO DIVE DOWN ACROSS NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. TIMING OF IT NOW. LOOKS LIKE IT MAY BE A LITTLE BIT EARLIER THAN WE THOUGHT YESTERDAY. SO WE’RE LOOKING AT TIMING. WE COULD START SEEING THE MAIN BAND OF RAIN DEVELOPING OVER NORTHERN CALIFORNIA BY 10:00 IN THE MORNING. OVER THE GREATER SACRAMENTO AREA. SO THESE ARE THE IMPACTS THAT WE HAVE ALONG THE COAST, NOT ANY GREAT IMPACT. WE’RE LOOKING AT ABOUT A 10TH OF AN INCH TO A QUARTER OF AN INCH OF RAIN. SIMILAR CONDITIONS FOR MOST VALLEY LOCATIONS A LITTLE BIT MORE RAIN TO THE NORTH, A LITTLE BIT LESS TO THE SOUTH. IT’S THE HILLS WHERE WE’RE EXPECTING ANYWHERE FROM A QUARTER OF AN INCH TO A HALF AN INCH, WHERE WE COULD SEE AN INCREASED CHANCE FOR SOME THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY. AND IN THE SIERRA, WE’RE LOOKING AT 2 TO 6IN OF SNOWFALL ABOVE 6500FT, WITH SNOW LEVELS EVENTUALLY DOWN BETWEEN 5 TO 6000FT. WE’LL HAVE MORE DETAILS ABOUT THE TIMING OF THIS STORM AND HOW MUCH WE CAN EXPECT COMING UP NOW. BACK OVER TO YOU. ALL RIGHT. DIRK, THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALABAMA. RIGHT NOW, WHERE A SHOOTING AT TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY LEAVES ONE PERSON DEAD AND 16 OTHERS HURT. THE SHOOTING HAPPENED EARLY TODAY AS THE HISTORICALLY BLACK UNIVERSITY’S 100TH HOMECOMING WEEK WAS WINDING DOWN. POLICE SAY AN 18 YEAR OLD MAN WAS SHOT AND KILLED. HE WAS NOT A STUDENT AT THE UNIVERSITY, BUT SOME OF THE INJURED WERE STUDENTS. 12 WERE HURT BY GUNFIRE. FOUR OTHERS SUFFERED INJURIES NOT RELATED TO THE GUNSHOTS. AUTHORITIES SAY A MAN WITH A WEAPON WAS ARRESTED AFTER LEAVING THE SCENE OF THE SHOOTING, BUT THEY HAVE NOT RELEASED ANY OTHER DETAILS. THE UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCING CLASSES MONDAY HAVE BEEN CANCELED AND GRIEF COUNSELORS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO HELP STUDENTS. CLOSER TO HOME, AN UNUSUAL THEFT CASE IN FOLSOM TONIGHT AND AN INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY INTO WHO STOLE A FOOTBALL FIELDS WORTH OF FENCING. THE FENCING WAS SURROUNDING THE NEW PROSPECTOR PARK THAT’S UNDER CONSTRUCTION ON MANGINI PARKWAY. THIS IS NEAR EAST E. BIDWELL STREET IN THE FOLSOM RANCH NEIGHBORHOOD. KCRA 3’S MICHELLE BANDUR IS LIVE THERE RIGHT NOW. SO, MICHELLE, WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED THERE? WELL, ANDREA, THIS IS WHAT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT. TAKE A LOOK. THIS IS A SIX FOOT TALL FENCE THAT SURROUNDING PROSPECTOR PARK, AND IT’S THAT NEW PARK THAT’S BEING BUILT HERE. AND SOMEONE REALLY WENT TO SOME TROUBLE STEALING 300FT OF FENCE LIKE THIS. THERE’S A TRAIL HERE, AND THEN A ROCKY CULVERT ON THE OTHER SIDE, AND YOU CAN JUST SEE HOW TOUGH IT WOULD BE TO TAKE 30 PANELS OF THAT FENCING FROM THIS AREA. AND JUST MUCH TO THE DISAPPOINTMENT OF NEIGHBORS WHO ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO USING THEIR NEW PARK. THAT’S QUITE A LENGTH OF FENCE THAT THEY TOOK. AND WHY? WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THAT? PERPLEXING FOR THE PALMER FAMILY, WHO LIKES TO PERIODICALLY CHECK OUT THE PROGRESS OF PROSPECTOR PARK? WE’VE BEEN WAITING, WAITING FOR THIS PARK. WE’VE BEEN WAITING PATIENTLY FOR THIS PARK. PATIENTLY WAITING. PALMER’S AND OTHER NEIGHBORS WONDER IF THEY’LL HAVE TO WAIT EVEN LONGER FOR THE PARK TO OPEN. NOW THAT THIEVES STOLE 300FT OF SIX FOOT TALL, PROTECTIVE FENCE SURROUNDING THE SITE ON THE WEST SIDE. IT’S BEAUTIFUL. YEAH, WE WERE PART OF THE THE PLANNING AND MEETINGS AND THE CITY HAD THE MEETINGS. SO I WAS THERE, READY WALKS THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE PARK ALMOST DAILY AND IS ALSO CONFUSED ABOUT THE THEFT, WHICH THE CITY SAYS HAPPENED SOMETIME FRIDAY NIGHT. IT’S STILL A NEW NEIGHBORHOOD, PRETTY SAFE. A LOT OF YOUNG FAMILIES. SO I’M QUITE SURPRISED THAT SOMEONE IS, YOU KNOW, SO DARING JUST TO COME AND STEAL. YOU KNOW, IT’S PRETTY BIG. I DON’T KNOW HOW IT I THINK THERE ARE NOT JUST IT’S NOT A ONE 1 TO 2 PEOPLE. PROBABLY THEY PLANNED IT WELL FOR ALL THIS TO GO ON. YEAH. IT’S IT’S REALLY SHOCKING AND NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT. NOW THERE’S A LARGE OPEN GAP TO THE 12 ACRE PARK, WHICH WILL HAVE A CHILDREN’S PLAY AREA, DOG PARK, TENNIS, VOLLEYBALL AND BASKETBALL COURTS. THE CITY SAYS THE THIEVES DIDN’T TAKE ANYTHING ELSE OR DO ANY OTHER DAMAGE. STILL, NEIGHBORS CAN’T FIGURE OUT WHY ANYONE WOULD TAKE THE FENCE AND WHAT THE FALLOUT MAY BE. PLEASE FIND YOURSELF SOMETHING BETTER TO DO AND IT’S FOR THE KIDS. DON’T TAKE DON’T TAKE FROM THE KIDS. COME ON NOW. YEAH, WE TALKED TO SO MANY FAMILIES HERE WHO SAID THEY REALLY ARE LOOKING FORWARD FOR THEIR CHILDREN TO USE THIS PARK BECAUSE IT’S BEEN UNDER CONSTRUCTION FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS NOW. THE CITY TELLS ME IT IS WORKING TO REPLACE THAT FENCING. THEY REALLY WANT PEOPLE TO STAY OUT BECAUSE THEY’RE TRYING TO SEED THE GRASS HERE. SO THEY WANT PEOPLE TRAMPLING ON THAT. THEY ALSO REALLY DON’T HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON ANY ARRESTS OR ANY SUSPECTS AT THE TIME AS TO WHO WOULD DO THIS AND WHY. REPORTING LIVE IN FOLSOM MICHELLE BANDUR KCRA THREE NEWS. YEAH, SUCH AN ODD CASE, MICHELLE. SO WILL THIS THEFT DELAY THE OPENING OF PROSPECT PARK? YEAH, THAT’S WHAT ALL THE NEIGHBORS WANT TO KNOW BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS TO OPEN. BUT THE CITY TELLS ME IT IS SCHEDULED TO OPEN AS PLANNED ON DECEMBER SEVENTH. THEY ALSO SAY THEY WANT TO TAKE THIS TIME TO REMEMBER, TO REMIND FOLKS THAT IF YOU SEE ANY SUSPICIO
