WASHINGTON (AP/AZFamily) - Democratic Rep. Greg Stanton won reelection to a U.S. House seat representing Arizona on Sunday.
He defeated Republican Kelly Cooper to retain his seat in the state’s 4th District, including Tempe, Mesa, and Chandler.
Stanton, a former Phoenix mayor, has served in Congress since 2019. He succeeded Kyrsten Sinema, who left the seat to represent Arizona in the U.S. Senate. The Associated Press declared Stanton the winner at 2:20 p.m. EST.
Stanton took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to thank his voters for supporting him in this election. He said he would continue to work with anyone to serve the best interests of Arizonans, “I won’t pull punches when our fundamental values come under attack.”
I’ve served under Democratic and Republican presidential administrations. My approach to governing has always been the same – I’ll work with anyone when it’s in Arizonans’ best interests, but I won’t pull punches when our fundamental values come under attack.
