"All they have to do to prove the world wrong is to talk to strangers for the day. "Spending a moment or your time to acknowledge and engage with someone is the simplest form of kindness there is. Everywhere needs more kindness, right now. In that respect London is no different to anywhere else." This isn't the first random act of kindness Tom has carried out. He once spent six months offering free, anonymous help via Gumtree adverts and was inundated with a wild array of requests. He also made a life-changing decision in 2012 when he donated a kidney to a stranger. He recalls: "There were 8,000 people who were waiting for a kidney at the time, and as I was waking from the operation, my surgeon excitedly told me it went to a seven-year-old girl. She's 19 now and is doing well. "It's a long time ago now and I’m reaching a point where I think 'Did I really do that?'. But I do remember that it took some courage and that over the year of assessment before the surgery it also took a good few careful conversations with my family who were concerned about the risks I was taking.mBut it was the biggest honour of my life, honestly.
