Twitter reacts to Patriots releasing former second-round draft pick WR

The New England Patriots reportedly released wide receiver Tyquan Thornton on Saturday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
A move was expected considering Thornton had been a healthy scratch in the previous two games. Some thought the team might try to move him ahead of the trade deadline, but they likely didn’t have the offers on the table to make a move.
It makes sense considering Thornton’s struggles during his run in New England. There was hope that he’d turn into a major contributor considering the team doled out a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft to get him. But all they got in return was 39 receptions for 385 yards and two touchdowns in two-and-a-half years on the roster.
Those are bust statistics.
That doesn’t mean Thornton can’t land on another team and find success elsewhere. Things simply never worked out in New England for the former Baylor standout. Here’s what fans were saying on social media about the move:
