Elon Musk’s SpaceX is at it again.
SpaceX's Starship Flight Test 6 is part of ongoing efforts to develop the Starship rocket system as a fully reusable spacecraft for missions to the moon, Mars and beyond. This marks the sixth Starship test flight, with the most recent one occurring on Oct. 13, 2024.
The Starship is a two-stage rocket that includes the Starship itself plus the Super Heavy rocket it sits atop.
Today's test launch aims to gather data on vehicle performance, including the return of the Super Heavy booster to the landing pad and catching it using "chopstick" arms, a controlled splashdown of the Starship, plus heat shield and maneuvering improvements. Engineers will also test reigniting a Raptor engine in space.
Here is everything to know about the SpaceX launch today.
