NASA has chosen SpaceX to launch its Dragonfly mission later this decade. The Falcon Heavy rocket will lift off with the one-of-a-kind spacecraft meant to explore Saturn's moon Titan in 2028.
NASA announced that the launch date is set between July 5 to July 25, 2028 from the Kennedy Space Center. SpaceX has been awarded $256.6 million for the launch costs and other mission related expense.

What is the Dragonfly mission about?
The Dragonfly mission will be designed for astrobiology study on Titan. "The mission will sample materials and determine surface composition in different geologic settings, advancing our search for the building blocks of life," NASA stated.
The mission includes an average car-sized rotorcraft that will hop from one location studying the chemistry on Titan. NASA says the rotorcraft will investigate locations where carbon-rich material and liquid water may have mixed for an extended period. It will also search for chemical indications of whether water-based or hydrocarbon-based life once existed.
