In a real-world range test by Edmunds, the base Equinox LT model traveled 573 km on a single battery charge, 12% more than the EPA’s claimed 513 km rating. For comparison, this result significantly outperformed the 2023 Tesla Model Y Long Range, which covered only 499 km under the same testing conditions. The 74 km difference gives Chevrolet a significant advantage, especially given its lower price.
The Chevrolet Equinox starts at $35 thousand, making it the most affordable electric vehicle on the GM Ultium platform. Taking into account a potential tax credit, the price in the US could drop to about $27.5 thousand, making it an even more attractive option for thrifty buyers.
The Edmunds test also showed that the car consumes about 29 kWh of energy per 100 miles (18 kWh per 100 km), which is 6% less than its EPA rating. This amounts to 5.55 km per 1 kWh, which outperforms competitors such as the Tesla Model 3 Long Range and Cadillac Lyriq.
