Tesla’s 2024 Holiday Update will begin rolling out via over-the-air updates starting next week.
Updates will target Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertrucks while also introducing some platform-wide enhancements. For the first time, Tesla vehicles will include a rear cross-traffic alert system. Long absent from the lineup, the feature has become standard across much of the industry in recent years.
Another notable addition is SiriusXM integration, now available in the Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck. Previously restricted to the Model S and Model X, the expansion brings the popular satellite radio platform to Tesla’s best-sellers.
Owners can also access a new Tesla app for the Apple Watch, enabling functions like locking and unlocking, checking battery status, opening the frunk, and controlling climate settings directly from their wrist. For those focused on preserving driving footage, dashcam, and Sentry Mode clips can now be saved directly through the Tesla app.
Tesla has also refined vehicle-specific capabilities. Model 3 vehicles equipped without stalks will now automatically shift between Drive and Reverse during low-speed maneuvers, such as multi-point turns or parking. Cybertruck owners receive updates tailored to the brand’s new electric pickup, including improved rear camera feed quality and the ability for rear-seat passengers to play games on their dedicated screen.
Tesla has introduced a rain radar to its navigation suite, allowing drivers to anticipate weather changes during their journeys. Drivers can now set a preferred battery charge level for arrival at destinations, optimizing energy management on long trips which is great because currently you pretty much arrive at your destination with an empty battery.
For those who enjoy Tesla’s signature playful features, a “Fart On Contact” update will trigger a sound effect when a passenger sits down. Sorry Nana.
