Elon Musk is being told that he is one of the biggest spreaders of misinformation by his own AI platform Grok on X.
The use of social media platforms to spread false information has been blamed for escalating racial tensions and political extremism while pedalling conspiracy theories.
Protests over the summer following the tragic fatal stabbings of children in Southport are believed to have been made worse by social media platforms including X and TikTok spreading hate.
And Musk also added his view to the rioting on X by saying that âcivil war is inevitableâ in response to a post blaming the violent scenes on âmass migration and open bordersâ.
The billionaire who also owns Tesla and founded SpaceX bought Twitter two years ago and since then as well as changing the name to X has overseen a transformation allowing more liberal speech. Liz Earle beauty advent calendar is worth £178 but costs less than £80
An innovation on the platform was the introduction of Grok which has become one of the leading artificial intelligence tools on the market with data access and image analysis.
And embarrassingly for Musk, Grok has actually blamed him for spreading misinformation. When it was asked who personally spreads the most information on X it said: âBased on various analyses, social media sentiment, and reports, Elon Musk has been identified as one of the most significant spreaders of misinformation on X since he acquired the platform.â
The question was posed to Grok by user Gary Koepnick and based its conclusion on posts that Musk had shared on political issues, changes in content moderation, his influence and criticism he has received.
The AI platform continued: âWhen he comments on or shares misinformation, it tends to gain legitimacy among his followers, which can have real-world consequences, especially during significant events like elections.â
Specifically it stated that there is âsubstantial evidence and analysis suggesting that Elon Musk has spread misinformation on various topics, including elections.â And added: âThis collective evidence from news analyses, research reports, and social media posts indicates that Elon Musk has indeed been a significant spreader of misinformation, impacting potentially billions of people through his platform and personal influence.â
It comes as Musk has been promoting the accuracy of Grok and suggested that people submit their medical scans to the analysis for analysis. He wrote on X: âTry submitting x-ray, PET, MRI or other medical images to Grok for analysis. This is still early stage, but it is already quite accurate and will become extremely good. Let us know where Grok gets it right or needs work.â
