Tesla discovered the issue in November while conducting routine compliance tests for non-US vehicles. This kicked off an investigation, which ultimately led the automaker to discovering the issue could be traced back to a faulty software update (2024.38.3). It “inadvertently reset the TPMS warning telltale when the vehicle turned on or awakened from sleep between drive cycles.”
The recall impacts the 2024 Cybertruck, 2017-2025 Model 3, and 2020-2025 Model Y. Tesla discovered one field report and 76 warranty claims related to the issue, but no injuries or accidents.
That’s good news and the recall has already been addressed by an over-the-air update. Despite this, owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in mid-February.
While this is a relatively minor recall, it appears to be the Cybertruck’s seventh this year. The problematic pickup has previously been recalled for a host of issues including a loss of drive power, a slow rearview camera, a sticking accelerator pedal, and trim pieces that could fall off.
