"Welcome to the International Space Station as we prepare for the Christmas holidays. It's a special time up here, and we get to celebrate with our space family," Williams said in the video. "There are seven of us on board, so we'll be enjoying the festive season together." Williams also shared her love for the Christmas season, highlighting her favorite part as the preparation and anticipation, as well as the joy of coming together to get ready for the holiday. Social media users quickly speculated about the astronauts’ extended stay, questioning how they had Christmas decorations on board.
"Did you bring Christmas decorations months in advance?" one user asked. Another commented, "How did they know to pack decorations for what was supposed to be an 8-day mission?"
Another user wrote, "Who delivered the Santa hats and decorations? Isn’t space in the capsule at a premium?"
Notably, Williams and her fellow astronaut have been on the ISS since June due to a Starliner spacecraft malfunction, extending their planned eight-day mission into months. Their return, initially scheduled for February, has been pushed to March.

Now, NASA dismissed conspiracy theories by giving a statement to the New York Post. NASA explained that the Christmas decorations, gifts, and festive meals were part of a SpaceX delivery in November. The package also included mission-specific and scientific items. NASA noted that the ISS is resupplied multiple times a year.
According to US reports, seven astronauts and cosmonauts are currently aboard the station. The recent delivery for Sunita Williams and her crew included a variety of food items, along with mission-specific and scientific supplies.
The shipment contained holiday treats like ham, turkey, vegetables, pies, and cookies, catering to those with a sweet tooth. In addition to essential supplies, NASA also made room for festive items, such as Santa hats and a Christmas tree, which were featured in a holiday video shared online.
