(Newsis) Singer and musical actor Kim Jun-su is the first official domestic owner of a Tesla Cybertruck, a futuristic electric pickup truck that has earned the nickname “GD vehicle” among South Koreans. The electronic vehicle went viral online in Korea last month when K-pop star G-Dragon was seen getting out of one at Incheon Airport on his way to Hong Kong for Chanel’s 2024/25 Cruise Show. At the time, the truck had a temporary license plate. On Friday, a car import company revealed on its Naver blog that it delivered the first officially registered Cybertruck in Korea just a few days earlier, on Monday. The post, titled “Tesla Cybertruck with first official license plate in Korea” confirmed Kim, a solo artist and member of K-pop group JYJ, as the owner. The truck was shipped by air to speed up import, the company added. The Tesla Cybertruck is 5.7 meters long, 2.2 meters wide, and weighs 3.1 metric tons, with a design straight out of a sci-fi movie. Prices start at 89.36 million won ($60,000), with fully loaded models costing as much as 146.54 million won. While a display model is currently on view at Tesla’s showroom in Gangnam, Seoul, an official launch date for the South Korean market has yet to be announced. good
