SpaceX is set to have a rocket launch on Friday, Dec. 13, from the Kennedy Space Center in Brevard County, Florida. Georgians might wonder if it could be visible on the coast.
The mission is to launch the mPOWER-E satellites for SES, according to a Federal Aviation Administration advisory, with a launch window between 3:55 p.m. and 6:25 p.m., according to floridatoday.com.
Can the SpaceX launch be seen in Georgia?
Mainly along the southern coast, Georgians could have a shot to see the rocket launch along the horizon, but only if the weather is perfect.
According to National Weather Service Meteorologist Tony Cruz in Jacksonville, Fla., viewers in Georgia have a better chance of seeing the launch than those in Jacksonville, as Jacksonville is expected to have more cloud cover.
Cruz said that if Georgians have seen it in the past and the cloud coverage is low, viewers in Georgia should be able to see the launch.
Has Georgia seen SpaceX in the past?
Georgians have been surprised in the past by SpaceX sightings as they flew across the middle portion of the state. News channels in Atlanta and Macon have reported Georgia citizens being stunned at the bright light glowing in the sky.
