STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Tesla Motors has issued a safety recall for several of its most popular models.
The electric car company has issued a recall for its 2024-2025 Model 3, 2024-2025 Model S, 2023-2025 Model X and 2023-2025 Model Y vehicles.
In total, 239,382 vehicles made by Tesla have been included in the recall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The main culprit of the recall is a circuit board which could short when turned on and lead to a loss of the rearview camera. This could impact rear visibility and lead to an increased risk of a collision.
Tesla has issued an over-the-air software update to help address the issue, according to the NHTSA.
The company also stated that it will identify any vehicles that already experienced a circuit board issue. It will also look for vehicles with conditions that may lead to a circuit board failure, and replace the affected computers, free of charge.
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Tesla via notification letters. These are expected to be mailed March 7, 2025.
Tesla customer may also contact the company’s customer service line at 1-877-798-3752 or the NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 to see if their car is affected by this recall.
