The refreshed Model Y features a major design overhaul and upgraded technology, promising a quieter, quicker, and smoother ride than its predecessor
Tesla has quietly revealed the 2025 updated version of its Model Y, dubbed the “Juniper,” on its Chinese consumer site, offering a glimpse of the highly anticipated electric vehicle (EV). The refreshed Model Y features a major design overhaul and upgraded technology, promising a quieter, quicker, and smoother ride than its predecessor. The most noticeable change is the exterior makeover, which takes inspiration from Tesla's futuristic Cybertruck. The redesigned front features split headlights and a full-width LED light bar, which further enhances the vehicle's sharp and modern appearance. The bumper design borrows elements from the Model 3 Highland, with slim side intakes and a cleaner aesthetic achieved by removing the hood-mounted Tesla logo. At the rear, the Juniper introduces a full-width darkened light strip, which Tesla describes as the first “indirect reflective body panel taillight.” While the side profile remains largely unchanged, the car’s overall length has increased by 41 mm, and the Model Y now rides on new 20-inch Helix 2.0 wheels. In some markets, consumers will also have the option of 19-inch Crossflow wheels finished in black. The vehicle will be available in two shades of blue: “Glacier Blue” and “Deep Blue.”
Inside, Tesla maintains its signature minimalist design but has made key upgrades. The infotainment display has been expanded to 15.4 inches from 15 inches, while rear passengers now have access to an additional 8-inch touchscreen. New seat designs and upholstery are aimed at improving comfort, and ventilated seating has been added for enhanced support. The Juniper’s technology enhancements include acoustic glass, retuned suspension, noise-optimized tires, and aerodynamic improvements to create a quieter driving experience. A revised chassis setup provides more responsive steering, while ambient lighting, vegan suede inserts, and a new audio system integrated into the display elevate the interior feel.
The 2025 Model Y Juniper is expected to deliver faster performance, with slightly more powerful electric motors. Prices start at $39,300 USD, depending on the market.
