We've got not one but two Moon landings coming our way, hopefully. SpaceX is preparing to launch the landers by US-based Firefly Aerospace and private Japanese company ispace at 11:41 am IST on January 15. Both the landers will be flown on the same Falcon 9 rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

About the two lunar missions
This is ispace's second attempt to land on the Moon with the HAKUTO-R lander named Resilience. It will be carrying a tiny rover Tenacious and they will together explore the region around Mare Frigoris, an expansive basaltic plain situated in the Moon’s northern hemisphere.

All launch preparations are complete in advance of SMBC x HAKUTO-R Venture Moon Mission 2 launch featuring the RESILIENCE lunar lander and TENACIOUS micro rover, scheduled to launch on Jan. 15, 2025, at 06:11 UTC. ALSO SEE: SpaceX To Launch Two Moon Landers On Single Falcon 9 Rocket This January
It’s been a busy few days out at KSC as we prepare for our trip to the Moon with 10 @NASA payloads! Blue Ghost is securely integrated and encapsulated in @SpaceX’s Falcon 9 fairing. There are ten NASA payloads aboard Blue Ghost for experiments and technology demonstrations such as testing regolith sample collection, Global Navigation Satellite System abilities, radiation tolerant computing, and lunar dust mitigation.
Interestingly, both companies have more lunar missions lined up in partnership with NASA. ispace will launch its third lander to the Moon in 2026 followed by another in 2027. On the other hand, Firefly will follow up with Blue Ghost 2 in 2026.
Where to watch the launch live?
You can watch the launch live on SpaceX's official X account or its website. ispace will also stream the launch live at 10:50 am IST. On SpaceX, the webcast will begin one hour prior to liftoff.
