SpaceX’s Starlink broadband-by-satellite services has been chosen by airline Scandinavian Airlines (SAS).
SpaceX, posting on X, said: “Next-gen Wi-Fi is coming onboard! With SpaceX Starlink, you can enjoy high-speed internet – even over remote areas like the North Pole or Atlantic Ocean. Rolling out fleet-wide in late 2025, and free for EuroBonus members.”
SAS said: “We’re expanding our domestic network with new routes between Stockholm-Arlanda & Halmstad, and Stockholm-Arlanda & Kalmar, boosting regional growth and global connectivity.”
The Starlink equipment will eventually be installed fleet-wide. SAS is the national airline for Denmark, Norway and Sweden, and is headquartered in Solna, Sweden and has key hubs in Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo.
The move puts an existing agreement with Viasat, for in-flight connectivity, into question.
