While Tesla’s right-hand-drive Model 3 is produced in Shanghai, it is unlikely to be part of the initial rollout due to restrictions on Chinese car imports. Currently, there are no plans for local assembly, though industry insiders suggest this may change in the future. Tesla, which already has an office in Pune, is actively scouting locations in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) and Delhi’s Aerocity for its first showrooms. The company has also posted job listings for roles such as business operation analyst, service technician, customer engagement manager, and order operations specialist for Mumbai and Delhi. These developments follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US, where he met Elon Musk to discuss key issues related to space, mobility, technology, and innovation.
