Less than a month after Tesla launched the facelifted Model Y (codename Juniper) and offered a special ‘Launch Edition,’ it has made three more versions available – namely the base model ‘Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive’, the ‘Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive,’ and the ‘Long Range All-Wheel Drive’ variants. In most markets, the ‘Launch Series’ is no longer available to order, except in the UK. There, it is still listed in the configurator. This is interesting, as it is technically equivalent to the ‘Long Range All-Wheel Drive’ model but was only available with the 20-inch rims and other equipment details, such as the trailer coupling. You can read about all the changes introduced with the update here.
The basic Model Y with LFP battery and rear-wheel drive is priced at 44,990 euros in the configurator – the same price as before. As usual, Tesla does not provide any information on battery size and drive power. However, it is known from Asia that the LFP battery with CATL cells has a capacity of 62.5 kWh. Tesla’s peak charging capacity is 175 kW. The WLTP range increases from 455 kilometres to 500 kilometres – with the 19-inch wheels. The 20-inch rims are currently not available on the base model.
Prices old (Germany) 59,990 euros
From the ‘Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive’ variant upwards, the electric SUV has a 78.4 kWh battery. The range of the rear-wheel drive model (with 19-inch wheels) increases from an even 600 to 622 kilometres – which is the maximum for the Model Y. However, Tesla also quotes the 622 kilometres with the new 20-inch ‘Helix 2.0’ rims (€2,200). With the old 20-inch wheels, it was only 565 kilometres. The price here in Germany is 49,990 euros, which is 1,000 euros more than before the facelift.
The only all-wheel-drive model currently in the range starts at 52,990 euros and is thus even 2,000 euros cheaper. The range here is 586 or 568 kilometres, depending on the choice of wheels. Previously, it was 565 kilometres with the 19-inch wheels and 533 kilometres with the 20-inch wheels. With the large battery, the Model Y can charge with a maximum of 250 kW as before – but there are no details on the charging curve yet.
The surcharge options remain almost unchanged. In terms of paint finishes, ‘Pearl White Multi-Coat’ is the free standard colour in Germany, while in the UK it is ‘Stealth Grey.’ That colour, for example, costs 1,300 euros more in Germany, while in the UK, Tesla charges an additional 1,300 pounds for the pearl white pain. ‘Ultra Red’ and ‘Quicksilver’ cost extra in both markets – 2,600 euros in Germany and 2,600 pounds in the UK. In Germany, the significantly darker ‘Midnight Cherry Red’ has been replaced by the ‘Ultra Red’ colour familiar from other markets.
For the interior, there is currently only a choice between black (standard) and white with five seats. The seven-seater option offered in the pre-facelift model is not yet available to order. Otherwise, the only extras available are the trailer coupling (max. 1,600 kg) for €1,350 and the Autopilot packages ‘Enhanced Autopilot’ (€3,800) and ‘Full Self-Driving Capability’ for €7,500. These prices are based on the German configurator. In the UK, the full autopilot package costs 6,800 pounds, for example.
