
Over 375,000 Tesla vehicles recalled for power steering issue

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Tesla issued a recall for multiple vehicle models regarding a power steering issue that could increase the risk of crash, according to officials.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced on Friday that Tesla issued a recall for 376,000 vehicles due to an issue that could result in a loss of power steering assist, which "can require greater steering effort, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash," according to the recall.
According to the NHTSA, the recall was issued after Tesla learned that the circuit board for the power steering assist could lose power if overstressed, especially when the vehicle begins accelerating after coming to a stop.
Since the problem is largely a software issue, Tesla said it already sent out an over-the-air software update for free, but that affected owners will still be contacted over mail by March 25.
The affected models are running operating software prior to 2023.83.4, per the recall. The specific models are:
