SpaceX is gearing up for its latest mission, the Bandwagon-3 rideshare flight, set to launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This marks the third Falcon 9 rocket launch in less than 48 hours, with the primary objective of delivering a variety of payloads to a mid-inclination orbit. The mission is scheduled for liftoff at 8:48 p.m. EDT (00:48 UTC) from Space Launch Complex 40, a site that has now hosted an impressive 300 orbital flights.
The Bandwagon-3 mission continues SpaceX's successful rideshare program, following Bandwagon-1 and Bandwagon-2, which launched from Kennedy Space Center and Vandenberg Space Force Base, respectively. This program has been a cornerstone of SpaceX's efforts to provide cost-effective access to space for various payloads, including satellites and scientific experiments. The flight will also be part of the 14th Transporter rideshare mission, further solidifying SpaceX's role in the rideshare industry.
Weather and Launch PreparationsAs the countdown begins, the 45th Weather Squadron has forecast a 95 percent chance of favorable weather for the launch, maintaining the positive trend seen during the recent CRS-32 mission. This bodes well for a successful launch, with all systems at the Space Launch Complex 40 operating smoothly.
Reuse and Landing of the Falcon 9 BoosterA key highlight of this mission is the reuse of the Falcon 9 first stage booster, tail number 1090. This booster has already completed two successful missions: the O3b mPOWER-E mission and the Crew-10 flight. Following its third trip to space, B1090 is scheduled to land at Landing Zone 2, marking the 12th landing at this site. This achievement underscores SpaceX's commitment to sustainable space exploration through booster reuse, a practice that significantly reduces launch costs and environmental impact.
