The disruption began late morning and peaked between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM IST, with many reporting problems logging in, using the app, or accessing the website. According to Downdetector, which tracks real-time service outages, there was a sharp rise in complaints during this window, pointing to a widespread technical breakdown. The majority of users (57 per cent) reported being unable to log into their accounts. Around 30 per cent had trouble with the app, such as timelines not loading or tweets failing to post. Another 13 per cent couldn’t even open the website, encountering error messages or frozen screens. The spike in user complaints reached its highest point just before 4:00 PM, according to Downdetector's outage graph. While some users were able to access services around 5:00 PM, others were unable to access services until later in the evening. To this point, X has not publicly acknowledged the cause of the disruption. There has been no official word on whether it was due to server issues, a cyberattack, or simply the result of routine maintenance. Their lack of transparency has left many users feeling frustrated, especially given a similar outage back in March. Repeated disruptions like this raise questions regarding the reliability of the platform, especially when X seeks to become a space for real-time updates and public discourse.
