Here’s a video released by the company earlier this year showing a Tesla stuck in traffic and being lowered on a small platform under the street where it’s placed on a platform called “a skate” and slotted into a stream of vehicles moving at 124 miles-per-hour along an underground autobahn.

The Boring Co. says pedestrians and cyclists could also use the system by getting into a capsule that could accommodate as many as 16 passengers. Musk said recently that his idea was to provide entry and exit points every mile or so along the tunnel’s path and that the project would be funded, said his spokesman, “entirely with private money.”
At one conference, Musk lamented the soul-sucking misery of commuter traffic and gridlock, promising his tunnel system would allow travel from Westwood to LAX in six minutes.
“One of the most soul-destroying things is traffic,” Musk said at the conference. “It affects people in every part of the world. It takes away so much of your life. It’s horrible. It’s particularly horrible in L.A.”
Last month Musk tweeted that test tunnel could “hopefully” be completed in “a year or so,” a speed that the report said “would shatter records for tunneling in dense urban areas. Digging the tunnel is often the fastest part of a tunnel project. Other bureaucratic requirements, including permits and environmental reviews, can take years.”

Curiously, the sales tax increase that Los Angeles County voters approved last fall includes more than $5 billion for a mass transit tunnel beneath the Sepulveda Pass, a route almost identical to Musk’s proposal.
And here’s the poem that inspired the name of Musk’s second boring machine, nicknamed “Line-Storm”:
