Tesla has just made its highly popular electric sedan, the Tesla Model 3, even more versatile. With the introduction of a new tow package for the North American market, the Model 3 now offers utility features previously exclusive to SUVs and larger vehicles. This move comes at a time when consumers are demanding more functionality from electric vehicles, and Tesla is listening.

The tow package allows the Tesla Model 3 to handle small trailers, equipment hauls, and light recreational loads, all while maintaining its sleek form factor and aerodynamic design. This latest upgrade complements the Tesla Model 3’s performance and adds new reasons for buyers to consider the vehicle in 2025.
What’s Included in the Tesla Model 3 Tow Package?
The Tesla Model 3 tow package is a factory-installed feature now available on 2024 and newer “Highland” models, including both Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) variants. It includes:
A high-strength trailer mode settings
The towing capacity is capped at 750 kg (approx. 1,653 lbs), which makes it ideal for towing small utility trailers, bike racks, or jet skis. It’s not meant for heavy-duty hauling, but it adds a surprising amount of practicality to a vehicle that’s otherwise known for city cruising and highway efficiency.
Tesla has also ensured that the tow package integrates seamlessly with the Model 3’s existing safety systems, including stability control and regenerative braking, keeping safety at the forefront of this update.
Tesla Model 3 Performance: Now with Added Utility
Adding towing capability to the Tesla Model 3 performance specs may seem minor, but it meaningfully expands what the car can do. Known for quick acceleration (0–60 mph in as little as 3.1 seconds on the Performance trim), the Model 3’s low center of gravity and electric torque make it surprisingly effective for light-duty towing.
However, it’s worth noting that towing does slightly reduce the Model 3’s range—something EV owners are always watching. Still, for those not planning long-haul towing jobs, the new capability strikes a great balance between utility and efficiency.
Tesla Model 3 Price and Availability
The Tesla Model 3 price with the tow package varies depending on the trim level and optional upgrades. As of 2025:
Base Model 3 RWD starts at around $38,990
Model 3 Long Range AWD starts at around $47,990
The tow package is an additional $1,300, available during configuration or as an add-on later via Tesla service
That makes the total cost for a fully equipped Model 3 with towing features very competitive, especially when compared to gas-powered sedans with similar performance and features.
Those looking for a Tesla Model 3 for sale with a tow package should confirm availability with Tesla directly or through certified Tesla showrooms, as demand for the Highland upgrade models has surged since their launch.
Tesla Stock: Impact of the Tow Package and Model Expansion
Any time Tesla expands functionality or launches a new feature, it gets Wall Street’s attention, and the Tesla stock movement in 2025 reflects just that. Following the tow package announcement, analysts reported a short-term spike in Tesla stock, largely due to growing interest in the Model 3 from new buyer segments. Investors see added vehicle utility as a sign that Tesla is targeting a broader, more practical user base, not just tech enthusiasts.
Moreover, by continuing to invest in the Tesla Model 3, which remains its best-selling model globally, Tesla shows confidence in its mid-market EV strategy. Analysts from major firms, including Morgan Stanley and Wedbush, have maintained “Buy” ratings, especially as international markets (like Canada and parts of Europe) begin receiving the tow-capable models.
Is the Tesla Model 3 Tow Package Worth It?
For everyday drivers who need just a little more from their EV, the answer is yes. The Tesla Model 3 tow package adds functionality without compromising performance or design. It’s ideal for people who camp, bike, or use small trailers and don’t want to jump to a larger vehicle like the Model Y or Cybertruck.
Combined with Tesla’s continuously improving software, reliable Supercharger network, and performance pedigree, the Model 3 becomes an even more compelling option for both new buyers and existing owners considering an upgrade.
