MATAMOROS, Mexico (KRGV) - Debris believed to be from SpaceX’s ninth Starship launch is washing up on a beach south of the border near Texas.
During last week’s launch, the Super Heavy rocket boosters successfully separated from the spacecraft before falling into the ocean.
Then, SpaceX lost control of Starship midflight, and the company does not know exactly where it ended up.
Since then, residents near Matamoros, Mexico, say millions of pieces, big and small, have been washing up on shore.

Some of the items residents have recovered show the SpaceX logo.
“We found millions of fragments,” Jesus Elias Ibarra Rodriguez, a local veterinarian, said. “Three days after the launch, fishermen told us the amount of trash was growing.”
Neither SpaceX nor the Federal Aviation Administration have made remarks about the debris.
